|FROST, (Spl)-Despite a pair
of brilliant 75 yard runs by 140-
pound Frost quarterback Mike
Dugan the Polar Bears were
dropped by Coppell, 16-14, in the
season opener for both teams,
here Friday night.
Dugan ran for 75 from
scrimmage once and then
tacked on a twisting 75 yard
kickoff return, only to see a first
half safety provide the edge for
Tate Crawford was back to
punt and got a bad snap and was
brought down in his own end
zone, giving Coppell a 2-0 lead.
Mid-way through the second
period Coppell scored from 11
out, but missed on an extra
point attempt to post an 8-0 lead.
Then Dugan did his thing
taking it the distance from his
own 25 for the first Frost touchdown.
Then the slight signalcaller
knotted the count by
running in for two more points,
leaving the score tied at half, 8-
After a scoreless third
quarter of play the visitors
gained the winning margin on a
32-yard play from scrimmage.
On the ensuing kickoff little
Mike did it again lugging it all
the way back for the score.
However, Ralph Porter was
stopped short on the PAT try
which would have tied the
Next Saturday night the Polar
Bears open District 10-B play in
a homecoming game at Palmer.|
